Training & Teaching

Portree Medical Centre is an approved training practice within the Scotland Deanery. Dr Hannah MacLeod is an approved educational supervisor and has responsibility for postgraduate GP trainees attached to the practice. These GP trainees are fully qualified doctors and may already have several years experience working in hospital specialties.

Medical students from Dundee University are also regularly attached to the practice. Dr Sarah Clancy and Dr Sarah Osborne are undergraduate tutors and have a lead responsibility for their training.

At times the practice also serves as base practice for Rural Fellows. We also have doctors from abroad visiting the practice from time to time.

The practice is committed to education and all staff are involved with both undergraduate and postgraduate training.

Video Consultations

Some consultations are recorded for training purposes. You will always be asked for consent beforehand and can withdraw this at any stage. The camera will be switched off on request. Videos are stored securely and only viewed by doctors for the purposes of teaching and improving consultation skills.
